The sunny capital of Nicosia, Cyprus, recently played host to the 3rd Transnational Partners’ Meeting of the FOCUS Project. From May 6–7, 2025, partners gathered at the Global College, marking a significant step forward in their mission to make foreign language learning more and more inclusive. The Cypriot partners COMCY and OLYMPION welcomed the rest of the team, planning everything to detail.
The agenda focused on a critical phase of the project: the preparation and evaluation of the educational digital games currently under development. These tools are being designed to provide tailored support for language learning, specifically targeting the unique needs of every students. A key feature is adaptability, ensuring they cater to various age groups while improving essential skills such as pronunciation, vocabulary, and comprehension. Transversal skills are targeted as well, such as memory, decision and hypothesis making and much more.
Our digital games were not the only point to be discussed, though. In fact, we have already started planning the next, main result of our project, the “FOCUS in Foreign Languages” Online Training Course for teachers, outlining modules and learning objectives. Moreover, our next meeting is already in preparation, together with a transnational training for teachers: the location will be the beautiful town of Perugia, in Umbria (Italy), the official date will be out soon.
Apart from all these exciting news, we have had our usual monitoring of the project’s implementation route too, which highlighted how the FOCUS team is working smoothly and proactively together. This is also thanks to the friendly and relaxed atmosphere that the partners built during this year and a half of researching, finding common solutions, exchanging ideas and perspectives in a constant process of growth.
Beyond the working sessions, the partners also embraced the opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of Nicosia, thanks to a carefully curated guided tour and a dinner in a typical Cypriot taverna. This cultural immersion, alongside dedicated time for relaxed networking, helped strengthening the transnational partnerships that are the bedrock of the FOCUS Project’s success.
With each meeting, the FOCUS Project gets closer to achieving its ambitious yet vital goal: to empower teachers with cutting-edge resources and methodologies, thereby making inclusive, modern, and playfully engaging foreign language learning truly accessible for every child.
