Country: Lithuania

Occupation: English teacher

Small bio / CV:

She works as an English teacher with 28 years of experience. She has been working with children with special needs for 12 years.

Date of the Interview: 06.06.2024

Short Summary of the interview:

She works with students who have learning difficulties, including general and specific disorders, as well as behavioral and emotional issues. Special needs students are taught in mixed groups, adapting or individualizing general programs. Typically, there are two or three students with special needs per group. She has been working with special needs students for 25 years. There is a significant lack of psychological and pedagogical knowledge, as well as insufficient teaching resources. Digital tools make it easier for students to absorb learning materials and help lighten the teacher’s workload. However, there are no pre-made games or digital resources specifically tailored to the curriculum, so teachers have to search online or create them themselves. There should be more methodological materials available for children with varying abilities, and instead of assigning aides to individual students, there could be assistants for the mixed groups.
