The FOCUS project is entering an important stage of its journey, with partners moving from the development and refinement of the project resources towards their practical testing with teachers and children.
On 30 June and 1 July 2026, the FOCUS consortium gathered in Patras, Greece, for the project’s final Transnational Project Meeting (TPM). With the project approaching its final months, the meeting provided an opportunity to review the progress achieved across all Work Packages, assess the status of the main outputs, and coordinate the activities still to come.
Partners reviewed the work completed so far, including the Online Training Program and Digital Educational Games, and discussed the remaining steps needed to ensure that the project’s resources are ready for wider use. Particular attention was given to the ongoing piloting phase, as feedback from the project’s target groups will play an important role in the final refinement of the materials.
From development to real educational settings
Alongside this final TPM, the FOCUS project has reached another key milestone: pilot testing is underway across the partner countries.
Children aged 6–12 are taking part in testing the FOCUS Digital Educational Games, providing valuable insight into their accessibility, level of difficulty, engagement and suitability for different learning needs. Early experiences from the piloting have been encouraging, with children showing strong interest in the activities and a willingness to engage with the learning process. At the same time, the testing is helping partners identify areas where additional guidance, visual support or adaptations could make the games even more accessible.
The piloting also involves foreign language teachers, that explore the FOCUS training resources and digital tools and provide feedback based on their professional experience and classroom needs.
The final steps ahead
The Patras meeting therefore represented more than the final TPM of the project. It marked the transition towards the testing, evaluation and finalisation of the FOCUS results.
Over the coming period, partners will continue and complete their local piloting activities, collect feedback from teachers and children, and use the findings to make the final improvements to the project’s educational resources.
As FOCUS moves closer to completion, the priority remains clear: ensuring that the tools developed are not only innovative, but also practical, accessible and relevant to foreign language teachers supporting children with learning difficulties.
