Short Summary of the interview:
The focus group explored four main themes, namely: challenges encountered; Digital Game-Based Learning (DGBL); teachers’ knowledge and skills; transversal skills. The participants highlighted the necessity to increase teacher training on LDs, together with optimizing the cooperation within the classroom and between the school, the families and the professionals that support the students in the extracurricular hours, in order to grant the kids a continuity in the learning process. DGBL was praised as a useful approach for all students, despite some logistical issues that may occur. In terms of teachers’ skills and knowledge, more trainings should be provided, especially face to face ones to raise motivation and active participation. Lastly, self-evaluation skills were identified as a means towards efficacy and autonomy.
Most important statement
“In order to avoid false myths on LDs, it is paramount to spread more awareness and practical knowledge among education professionals”.
