From 21 to 24 April 2026, the FOCUS project partners gathered in Perugia for a dynamic week that combined a Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) with a pilot teacher training. This meeting marked a key step forward as the project moves closer to the launch of its Online Training Program and Digital Educational Games.
The TPM, held on 21 April, focused on reviewing the progress of the project and ensuring the quality of its main outputs. Particular attention was given to the training material of the Online Training Program. All six modules were carefully examined to ensure consistency, clarity, and relevance for foreign language teachers working with learners aged 6–12 with learning difficulties. Partners also aligned on final responsibilities and timelines for the upcoming implementation phase.
In the following days, 20 foreign language teachers took part in a hands-on training based on the FOCUS Online Training Program. The training provided a practical learning experience, closely connected to real classroom challenges. Participants explored topics such as understanding learning difficulties, inclusive and differentiated teaching approaches, and effective collaboration with families. Innovative elements, including Digital Game-Based Learning and the use of Artificial Intelligence in education, were also introduced.
The training was designed to be highly interactive. Through a combination of short presentations, discussions, and workshops, participants actively engaged with the content. Activities included analysing case studies, adapting teaching materials, participating in role-play scenarios, and designing short lesson plans using the FOCUS digital games. This approach helped teachers not only understand the concepts but also apply them in practice.
The final day was dedicated to evaluation, allowing participants to reflect on their experience and provide feedback that will support the final refinement of the course before its official launch.
Alongside the formal programme, the meeting offered valuable opportunities for partners to connect, exchange ideas, and strengthen their collaboration. Informal moments and shared experiences contributed to a positive and productive atmosphere throughout the week.
The consortium would like to sincerely thank the hosts in Perugia, FORMA.Azione for their excellent organisation and warm hospitality, which played an important role in the success of this meeting and training, as well as OMNIS who were there to provide us with further assistance and activities for all.
